The NEW Solar Beehive Attic. Available for 10 Frame and 8 Frame Beehives. If you are currently managing a beehive(s), you know the stress that bees endure during hot and cold temperatures. During the summer months, extreme heat in the hive will require as much as 40% of the hive's population to "fan" the hive, with special attention towards the brood.

This commitment of bees takes away from the overall productivity and honey production for its owner. If the bees become exhausted in performing this task, they will "beard" on the outside of the hive, usually on a shaded side. On the other hand, there is winter. Cold weather brings on hive humidity. And, during freezing temperature, the humidity gathers on the inside roof of the hive and freezes.

Once this frozen humidity thaws, it rains down on the bees. The bees can withstand cold temperatures, however, if they become wet, it will result in a quick death. The Hive Ventilator functions as an "attic" for your beehive. The low vibration, low noise fans, produce little to no disturbance for the bees. During the summer months, the thermostatic controlled fans assist hive ventilation at a maximum rate of 40cfm.

The unique concept of this ventilator is its dual temperature control. Out of the box, it is set up to operate the two fans, independently, based on the temperature of the hive. When temperatures in the hive reach 85 degrees Fahrenheit, one of the fans will turn on to assist in hive cooling.

Air is pushed downward through the hive (the fans are reversible if upward draft is desired). Downward draft is desired by most beekeepers, since bees follow their queen's scent into the hive. If temperatures in the hive reach 95 degrees Fahrenheit, the second fan will turn on to double the ventilation capacity. Each fan will turn off when temperature falls below their individual control temperature.

During the winter months, the Hive Ventilator will allow warm, humid air into the attic space. During freezing temperatures, humidity freezes on the inside roof of the hive. Upon defrosting, this moisture "rains" down on the canvas material, which absorbs the moisture. The open area of the attic, allows for the slow evaporation and dissipation of the moisture through its fan ducts. The canvas will become dry and able to absorb the next wave of moisture.

The Hive Ventilator is customizable in the following ways. 1 Air flow direction may be changed to downdraft.

2 Both fans may be turned on at the same temperature. This is a partially assembled unit. The solar panel will need to be attached to the attic box, with 3 phillips head screws. Available in (make selection upon ordering).
